Ariake

Our last evening we wandered upon the Tokyo International Exhibition Center often referred to as "Tokyo Big Sight".  It is located in Ariake by the Waterfront subcenter.  "Tokyo Big Sight" is Japan's largest exhibition and convention center. It was built by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and opened in April 1996.  The Exhibition Center's architecture is beautiful and houses restaurants, shops, and artistic displays.
Seven works of art are displayed around the Exhibition Center's grounds.  This huge sculpture is simply called "Saw, Sawing" and was created by Claes Oldenburg / Coosje Van Bruggen. It is sawing through the earth in harmony with its surroundings.

Inside was the world's tallest indoor fountain. People watched in awe as the water danced to beautiful classical music.
