We stayed at
the Clarion hotel (brown building on left) in Ikebukuro for a night. Our
room was clean but a bit less grand than the Le
Meridian hotel we had started getting used to!
Ikebukuro is a working class
district and was very interesting to explore. It gave us the opportunity
to visit a Japanese neighborhood off the tourist path and see how the people
live.
Ikebukuro
This is a less expensive
area of the city and is a little rough around the edges with some adult
bars on the side roads, but it is also home of Japan's largest department
store, Tobu.
One of the side
streets in Ikebukuro. Bicycles seemed to be more common here than in other
parts of Tokyo.
Notice the spotless road.
No trash anywhere. Tokyo is one of the cleanest cities we have ever seen!
