Located East of the Asian continent, Japan consists of four large islands

and about three thousand smaller islands. Tokyo, the capital of Japan, is located on Honshu. Tokyo metropolis is 226 square miles and is made up of 23 wards. Tokyo is 6200 miles from New York and is on the same latitude as central California.
